What does POWER7 even mean?

POWERx is IBM’s processor technology. POWER7 is the latest generation and, per IBM, is the fastest chip in the world.

OK, what does POWER7 mean to me?

POWER7 is the ideal platform for running UNIX, AIX, IBM i or Linux applications. And while the processor is fast, the real benefit is in reduced operating cost. More specifically through less power consumption and the ability to reduce complexity with virtualization technology.

6. IBM Encourages Blogging
